Professionalism is defined as the skill, qualities, and good judgment that is expected from an individual who is trained to do a job well.1 Professionalism is the responsibility of the organization for which one works and should be incorporated into all aspects of that organization, including processes, procedures, advertising, and customer service. However, professionalism truly starts with the individual employee or staff member. Professionalism is comprised of many factors, including appearance, attitude, behavior to both clients and other coworkers, and the knowledge a person possesses in order to effectively do their job.
