The following steps must be done in order and all documentation must be put into the case record.
- On the Auth AT ASMT tab in FACS:
- Open a SASSI (K20) authorization for any adult in the TANF benefit household after you have your SASSI results. The assessment result (K57) may be HIGH, INVALID, or LOW
- If “LOW” you are finished in this tab for drug screening.
- If “HIGH” or “INVALID” or provider recommends additional assessment client must have an ASI assessment and a UA. Open an ASI authorization and URINALYSIS authorization after you have your assessment results.
NOTE: If the individual is participating in outpatient or inpatient substance abuse treatment at the time of the application the Assessment Result for the SASSI is coded “Low”. The substance abuse treatment staff must verify the individual is actively participating in treatment and is currently clean. The ASI and UA are not required to be completed by the individual or the authorizations entered into FACS.
Step 2a – Auth AT ASMT tab - An ASI (K20) authorization must have but is not limited to a minimum of two Assessment Results (K57) depending on results from provider.
- “REFER FOR URINALYSIS” (required)
AND - “NO RECOMMENDATION”
- “RECOMMEND ALCOHOL TREATMENT”
- ”RECOMMEND ILLEGAL DRUG TREATMENT”
- “RECOMMEND MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES” OR
- “RECOMMEND PRESCRIPTION DRUG TREATMENT”
*Must have the authorization for a URINALYSIS when the ASI is administered unless the individual refuses the UA after the ASI is completed.
- “REFER FOR URINALYSIS” (required)
- An URINALYSIS (K20) authorization’s Assessment Results (K57) may be coded as follows depending on results from provider.
- “NEGATIVE”
- “POSITIVE FOR ALCOHOL”
- “POSITIVE FOR ILLEGAL DRUGS”
- “POSITIVE FOR PRESCRIPTION DRUGS”
- Open a SASSI (K20) authorization for any adult in the TANF benefit household after you have your SASSI results. The assessment result (K57) may be HIGH, INVALID, or LOW
- After the above steps are complete on the TANF Work tab in FACS code the following:
- Payee/Spouse Grant Indicator (F12) block for when payee and/or spouse is determined to be using illegal substance(s):
“PARENT OR CARETAKER RELATIVE NOT INCLUDED IN BENEFIT DUE TO POSITIVE ILLEGAL DRUG USE SCREENING” - TANF Work Status (F154) block for any adult with the above coding: Leave Blank
- Payee/Spouse Grant Indicator (F12) block for when payee and/or spouse is determined to be using illegal substance(s):
- On the Household tab in FACS for the person who has the illegal drug screen result
- Benefit (F24):“TANF-TEMPORARY ASSISTANCE FOR NEEDY FAMILIES”
- Status (F25): “INCOME/RESOURCES ARE CONSIDERED IN BENEFIT COMPUTATION-INDIVIDUAL NOT INCLUDED”
- Reason (F26):”FIRST POSITIVE ILLEGAL DRUG SCREEN RESULT”; OR ”SECOND OR SUBSEQUENT ILLEGAL DRUG SCREEN RESULT”
