Aged, Blind, Disabled (ABD): Income – Mineral Rights



The policy for the royalties from mineral rights was changed. Income from mineral rights are never treated as a lump sum. The income is averaged over six months.

The exception is when there is a dramatic increase or decrease to the royalties, average only two months income.

Royalties from trusts held by the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) or U.S. Dept. of the interior are exempt.

The first $2000 of royalties from trusts held by the Alaska Native Regional and Village Corporations (ANRVC) or Indian Nations, such as Osage Head rights, are exempt per calendar year.
