SNAP: How to Process Disaster SNAP (D-SNAP)

The following are instructions on how to Process a Disaster SNAP (D-SNAP) case. This occurs in the event of a disaster declared by the Food and Nutrition Service (FNS).

  1. On the Household Tab, Interview Notebook in FACS, add all household members to be included in certification for food benefits for the application date.
  2. On the SNAP Tab, Eligibility Notebook in FACS:
    • Section C – SNAP – Type Action Taken: ONE MONTH CERT WITH POSTPONED VERIFICATION (S)
    • Reason: DISASTER – FNS DECLARED (24R)
    • App Date: The app date should be the date of the D-SNAP application.
    • Cert Date: Enter the first day of the application month. In this example, Sept 1, 2017.
    • Effective Months: 99
    • Cert Period: 01 (For one month)
    • Elderly Disabled Indicator: Enter appropriate choice
