SNAP: UpdatedABAWD and Work Registration Screen Scenarios

Kevin Smith 22 years of age applied for SNAP benefits in April and was considered expedited eligible as he has no sources of income. Kevin did not declare any work registration exemptions and agreed to register to work. Kevin also did not declare any exemptions for ABAWD. He stated that he has been looking for employment for the last three months, but hasn’t had any job offers. Kevin is given pro-rated SNAP benefits for April 2024, and his 3 K months were May, June, and July of 2024.

On the SNAP tab in Eligibility Notebook in FACS, the certification period is 04, for the prorated SNAP month of April.

In June, worker received G1DX task in CurrentTM, regarding SNH/NNH edit for new employment for Kevin. Worker to place telephone call to inquire about the current employment status and Kevin states that he became employed in mid-May and is currently working 20 hours per week. Later in September, worker received MCR task in CurrentTM when Kevin completed his MCR online and provided paystubs. Worker upon review determined from the paystubs that Kevin’s hours had increased. Worker confirmed in phone call that Kevin now works 35 hours a week and that the hours are representative. Kevin is given the Work Registration Exemption for Employed 30 hours or minimum wage equivalent.

In January of the next year, Kevin calls to report that he is only able to work a limited amount of hours (10 a week) due to a reoccuring illness. Insurance issues has caused him to have to wait for a medical appointment so there is no verification or statement as of yet. Worker confirmed with employer the situation.

Kevin agrees to register for work and we would code Kevin as Registered and then Meeting the ABAWD work rule. Good cause is given and all information should be documented in case notes that explain why good cause is given.
