60 Day Job Search Approval and Closure
Client applies for job search child care for her child on May 5, 2020. The worker contacts the client by phone the same day. She reports that she last worked on March 27, 2020 and received her last check on April 3, 2020. She says she is currently unemployed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The worker must approve child care with the weekly rate effective May 5, 2020. The authorization should be opened using reason “For caretaker to search for employment.” After the approval clears, the worker must then immediately close child care (reason code “55 – Job search period has ended”) effective July 3, 2020. The approval and closure must be completed in two separate actions.
New Job During Job Search Period
The same client reports she has secured a job and will start working June 8, 2020. The required verifications show she will receive her first full pay check on June 22. The worker must code a new certification (action taken “open – 1”) effective July 4, 2020. Since the client will receive a full pay check prior to July 1, full anticipated income must be considered for the recertification of care. The request date should not be changed (remains May 5, 2020). A new child care authorization must be opened for July 4, 2020. Do not reopen the old authorization.
New Job Within 30 Days of Closure
Client reports she has secured a job and will begin working on July 13, 2020. Since it is within 30 days of the job search child care closure, no new application is required. The client supplies all necessary verification to continue her child care on July 9, 2020. She will receive her first full paycheck on July 31.
The worker must code a new certification (action taken “open – 1”) effective July 13, 2020. The request date should not be changed (remains May 5, 2020). A new child care authorization must be opened for the child effective July 13, 2020. Unfinished issuance must be used since she hasn’t received a full paycheck prior to July 13. (See Unfinished Issuance Examples & Coding | Quest for questions regarding how to process an approval in unfinished issuance.)
Change of Provider During the Job Search Period
Client was approved for job search child care effective May 5 and is approved for 60 days. The client calls on June 1, 2020 to request a change of provider for her child. The child started attending the new provider that day. Since the E-section and authorization are already closed on the case, the worker must use the “Incorrect Begin Date” process to add a gap authorization to approve the new provider. The begin date is the date the child starts attending the new provider. The end date is the last date of the job search period – July 3.
