The AFS Pre-Academy Workbook is an LMS course used to introduce new AFS workers to programs, computer processes, income calculations, and other key ideas related to professionalism involved with the Family Services Specialist position.
Instructions regarding the AFS Pre-Academy Workbook are divided into the following sections:

- AFS Pre-Academy Workbook – Field Manager Instructions
Accessing Pre-Academy
The AFS Pre-Academy Online Workbook course is found in LMS.
Click ‘Find Learning’ from the toolbar located on the Dashboard page.
Click ‘ALL’ to reveal the drop-down menu. Click on ‘Adult and Family Services’, then click on “On-line Learning”.
Click on ‘AFS Pre-Academy Workbook v2’ from the courses listed.
The AFS Pre-Academy course is a self-enrolled course. If you have not enrolled, a message will display “You can enroll in this course”. Click the ‘Go to course’ button to begin.
If you have already enrolled in the course the message “You are already enrolled in this course” will display. Click the ‘Go to course’ button to access the workbook and continue to complete tasks.
Worker Instructions
After accessing the AFS Pre-Academy workbook, click on the ‘Welcome’ page to begin. Bypass the Supervisor Quick Links and view the task list within the Welcome section. Click ‘Introduction’ to access the page and begin.
After completing the tasks in the Welcome and Collaborative Coaching sections, click on Checkpoint #1. Read over the instructions for Workers regarding how the checkpoints will work throughout the course.
Supervisor Instructions
After accessing the AFS Pre-Academy Workbook, click on the ‘Welcome’ page to begin. Click on ‘Checkpoint #1’ located under the Supervisor Quick Links. Read over the instructions for Supervisors regarding how the checkpoints will work throughout the course.
Field Manager Instructions
The instructions on completing the attestation checkmarks for both the supervisor and Field Manager can be found on the ‘Final Checkpoint’ page. This action certifies that all requirements for completing the AFS Pre-Academy have been completed and that Academy expectations have been reviewed with the worker.
