Diversion Assistance (DA) is a one-time payment to assist in an immediate need to retain or obtain employment. For initial applications and certification for Diversion Assistance follow the process outlined in article TANF: How to Process a Diversion Certification
The following instructions outline the process in the case that the application is to be denied.
On the Household Tab of the Interview Notebook
- Enter required demographic data fields
- Enter Benefit as “Diversion Assistance” (F24)
- Enter Status as ‘Added to Benefit Section” (F25) for citizens and eligible aliens
- Enter Status as “Income/Resources Are Considered in Benefit Computation – Individual Not Included: for ineligible and undocumented aliens
- Enter Effective Date with the application date
If applicable enter amounts on the Income and Resources Tabs of the Interview Notebook.
On the Financial Tab in Eligibility Notebook
- Enter Type Action Taken as “Denied” (B3)
- Enter the applicable reason code from the dropdown list (B4)
- Enter Application Source (B15)
- Enter Application Date (B1)
The following is an example of a denied application as it would appear on IMS screens.
