The following is an instructional article on coding on the INCOME TAB in the interview notebook for an eligible individual who receives both social security (RSDI) income and earned income.
Kevin receives $900 in social security benefits monthly. He is also employed and earns $600 monthly.
Income calculation:
$900 – $20 General Income Exclusion (GIE) = $880
$600 – $65 = $535/2 = $267.50
$880 + $267.50 = $1147.50 (Eligible for QMBP)
Coding Income TAB – Interview Notebook in FACS
$600 coded in the Countable Earned (PS2) field
$20 coded in the General Income Exclusion field
$267.50 + 65 = $332.50 ($332 – Drop the cents) coded in the NON-TANF WORK EXP field
$900 coded in the RSDI field
