Aged, Blind, Disabled (ABD): UpdatedIncome – Case Note Examples (SSI Recipient)

The following are examples of case notes regarding income that you would typically find on an ABD case. The following are examples of SSI specific cases.

Joshua is a child who receives survivors from a deceased parent, disability, and child support from his surviving parent. He lives with someone other than his parents. He also works part-time and does not attend school.

Unearned Income: SSI

Joshua receives SSI income in the amount of $300 dollars a month as confirmed on SDX screen.

If an individual is receiving SSI, all income for that individual is verified by the SDX screen in IMS. Copy and paste the SDX in IMS and update the income in FACS to match.

Unearned Income: RSDI

Joshua receives Social Security Disability Income in the amount of $218 a month as confirmed on BEN screen and the SDX screen.

Unearned Income: Child Support
Joshua also receives child support verified on the SDX screen. $400 monthly child support is received. 1/3 reduction makes the countable amount $400/3 = $133.33 x 2 = $266.67.

Earned Income of ABD Individual:
Joshua works part-time countable earned income is reflected on the SDX screen as $202.

SDX Income Case Notes 1

 

Copy of the SDX should be pasted into case notes:

SDX shows SSI amount of $300 (block 006), countable unearned income is $465 (block 008), and countable earned income is $202 (block 016). Total countable income for Joshua $967.

Earned Income Ineligible Spouse with Ineligible Child Allocation

For an individual receiving SSI, the ineligible child allocation will be reflected on the SDX. The countable earned income from the spouse will be in block 017 Deemed Income. Case notes should reflect a copy of the SDX and explanation of income.

SDX Income Case Notes 2

Brady Miller has SSI in the amount of $842 and deemed income from his spouse in the amount of $608. Total countable income for Brady is $1450.
