The following are a list of transaction codes that you would find on the BIL screen. These codes are located under the “TRANS CODE” (i.e. transaction codes) column.

- 11XX
- The individual was accreted (added) to the buy-in account. This code is followed by a two digit numeric code which identifies the source of the transaction of the reason an adjustment action was taken. DHS is liable for the individual’s premiums until the individual is deleted from the buy-in account.
- 14
- This code informs the state that CMS has deleted the part-a record because the beneficiary is entitled to free part-a. CMS May also delete a record as the result of an internal systems adjustment. These occurrences are rare.
- 15
- The individual was deleted by SSA because SSA’s records indicate the individual does not qualify for medicare.
- 16
- Automatically deleted because SSA records show individual is deceased.
- 17XX
- The individual was deleted from buy-in. (The code 17 is followed by a two digit numeric code which identifies the reason for the deletion)
- 1728
- Deleted because of dual state involvement. Another state is paying premiums.
- 1750
- Individual deleted by DHS for reason other than death.
- 1751
- Individual deleted by DHS for reason other than death.
- 1753
- Individual deleted by DHS because of death.
- 20XX
- Deletion request rejected.
- 21XX
- Accretion request rejected.
- 22XX
- Accretion request rejected. Individual receives SSA disability benefits but is not yet entitled to medicare.
- 23XX
- The claim number has been changed to agree with SSA records.
- 24XX
- DHS accretion or deletion request is rejected because the effective date is incorrect.
- 25XX
- DHS accretion or deletion request was rejected because the transaction has been processed previously.
- 27XX
- DHS accretion or deletion request was rejected.
- 29XX
- DHS accretion or deletion request was rejected because of a death deletion on the buy-in record (in Baltimore).
- 30XX
- Effective date for DHS accretion request was adjusted to a later date.
- 31XX
- DHS accretion or deletion request cannot be processed in the month it was submitted. DHS will receive a response within 3 months.
- 32XX
- DHS accretion or deletion requested cannot be processed in the month submitted. DHS will receive a response within 3 months.
- 33XX
- DHS accretion request rejected because another state is paying premiums.
- 41
- Ongoing buy-in record. No change since last billing.
- 42
- DHS has received a credit adjustment for this individual.
- 43XX
- Debit adjustment for this individual.
- 44
- Monthly premium was reduced resulting in a credit to DHS.
- 45
- An increase in monthly premium rate resulting in a debit to dhs.
- 4999
- DHS request for change to record was rejected.
- 50
- DHS is requesting deletion.
- 51
- DHS is requesting deletion for reason other than death.
- 53
- DHS is requesting deletion because of death.
- 61
- DHS is requesting accretion for this individual.
- 62
- DHS is requesting accretion for this individual.
- 63
- DHS is requesting accretion for this individual.
- 75
- DHS is requesting accretion for this individual.
- 76
- DHS is requesting accretion for this individual.
- 84
- DHS is requesting accretion for this individual.
- 86
- SSI alert records.
- 87
- SSI terminated.
- 99
- DHS is requesting change in identification number (ssn), sex code or buy-in eligibility code.
