Field: How much do you pay for your rent or mortgage?
Instructions: This question helps you determine the SNAP shelter deduction amount. Verification is not required unless the amount is questionable.
If rent and utilities expenses exceed income, the family may qualify for Expedited Services.
Document in the Case Notes section, how the client met prior needs and how the expenses will be met.
If the client pays insurance and taxes that are not included in their mortgage be sure to determine the monthly amount and add it to the mortgage payments to determine the correct shelter deduction.

Field: Do you pay the heating or cooling bill where you live?
Instructions: Ask this question to determine the SNAP utility deduction. Paying for heating and /or cooling costs entitles the household to the Standard Utility Allowance (SUA).

Field: How much money did you or will you get this month from working?
Instructions: This question is intended to determine the total earned income for the month, both what has already been received and what is expected to be received at any other time during the month. By asking this question, you can determine if the income is new, ongoing, or discontinued. You must be able to anticipate with reasonable certainty how much the income will be and when it will be received, or the income cannot be considered.

If the household has earned income and knows when they will get their next check it is countable. You would need to use the best available information to determine the approximate amount.
You should only count the actual earned income the client expects to receive this month.
If the household has received less than $150 income this month they may be eligible for Expedited Services.

Instructions: Enter the dollar amount of how much cash the client has on hand. If the client has less than $100 in liquid resources, he/she may be eligible for Expedited Services.

Field: How much money do you have in bank accounts?
Instructions: Enter the dollar amount of how much money the client has in bank accounts. This includes any account on which a person in the household has signature privileges or is listed in a household members name unless there is an impediment to the client accessing the account.
You may want to ask about savings accounts for the child or if anyone’s name is on another person’s account. If the client has less than $100 in liquid resources, he/she may be eligible for Expedited Service.

Instructions: Indicate whether the applicant is a migrant worker.

Instructions: Indicate whether anyone in the home receives tribal commodities. A household cannot receive tribal commodities and SNAP benefits at the same time.

Instructions: Enter the date the person was screened for Expedited Services. The person must be screened at first contact.
