SNAP: UpdatedExpedited Applications

Every SNAP initial application is screened when it is received to determine if the household is entitled to expedited.

When an initial application (with a break in service) indicates the household is eligible for expedited service, action is taken immediately to begin processing the application.  Expedited applications must be processed within seven (7) calendar days.  A one or two month “S/EO” is issued for the applications that require additional verifications.

Expedited Service Criteria:

  • Applications that indicate the household has less than $150 gross income and their liquid resources do not exceed $100; or
  • Applications that indicate individuals within the household are considered migrant or seasonal farm workers; and are considered destitute as their liquid resources do not exceed $100; or
  • Applications that indicate the monthly gross income and liquid resources of the household are less than the household’s monthly rent or mortgage and/or utilities.

Electronic applications are submitted through OKDHSLive. This system takes the information submitted by the client and evaluates it against the expedited criteria. If the application is determined to meet the expedited criteria, it is flagged and sent to the appropriate work “bucket” in Current. These expedited tasks are moved to the top of the list so that they will be assigned to the next available worker.

Paper applications must be screened immediately upon receipt by the AFS employee receiving it.
