All initial applications for SNAP are screened upon receipt to determine whether it is considered an expedited application. Be sure to screen the entire application for expedited consideration. The following criteria is used to determine if an application is to be considered as expedited:
- Applications that indicate that the household has less than $150 gross income and their liquid resources do not exceed $100;
- Applications that indicate that individuals within the household are considered migrant or seasonal farm workers; and are considered destitute as their liquid resources do not exceed $100; or
- Applications that indicate the monthly gross income and liquid resources of the household are less than the household’s monthly rent or mortgage and/or utilities.
SNAP: Scheduling Interviews & Processing Expedited Applications
Applications screened for expedited services are expressed in the SNAP/CC Application bucket. When a worker claims an application by hitting get next, they should text the customer and then initiate a cold call 3-5 minutes after sending the text. If there is no answer, please make a 2nd attempt 3-5 minutes after 1st attempt. All attempts to contact the customer should be clearly documented indicating the date and time of attempts. If the customer does not answer 2nd attempt, please leave a voicemail and an OnDemand interview notice would then need to be mailed, allowing the customer 7 days to complete the interview. In Current, the outcome of Pending with a Due Date is selected where the due date is 10 days from the day the notice is mailed. If the customer fails to complete an interview, a task of Verification Past Pend Due will be claimed once the 10 days has elapsed. The case can be placed into FDENY 59 status.
SNAP applications that are eligible for expedited benefits are to be processed within 7 calendar days. A one or two month “S/EO” is issued for the applications that require additional verifications. An S/EO is a certification issued with postponed verification.
