The following instructions detail the process of when you have a case where the client is ineligible for the application month due to prorating to less than $10 in benefits AND the client will be over income for the following month.
Example:
The SNAP household consists of 2 adults and 2 children. There are no elderly or disabled individuals in the household. SNAP application was submitted 8-28. Actual earned income calculated for the month of August is $2665 gross. There are no other sources of income. Anticipated earned income is calculated as $2721 gross for the month of September. HH pays heating and cooling costs and rent is $500. HH has no other expenses.
August: HH isn’t eligible for the application month due to less than $10 (23P)
September: HH isn’t eligible due to gross income exceeding standard for a HH of 4.
- You should document in case notes the income calculation for both months if different and case note that the client isn’t eligible for the application month due to prorating to less than $10 (23P).
- The application should be denied on over income with the income that makes the household ineligible. Case notes should explain this action.
The system does not allow two separate denial notices for the same application date.
