Programs: Alien Eligibility Guide

SNAP-eligible alien groups are: U.S. nationals, lawful permanent residents (LPRs), Cuban and Haitian Entrants (CHEs) and Compacts of Free Association (COFA) citizens.

ELIGIBLE IMMEDIATELY 1. Non-citizen U.S. Nationals
2. Cuban and Haitian Entrants (CHE)
3. Compacts of Free Association (COFA) Citizens
4. LPRs who have met the 5 year waiting period
5. Children Under Age 18 in any SNAP-eligible Alien Group
6. LPRs with 40 Qualifying Work Quarters
7. Individuals in any SNAP-eligible Alien Group Who is Blind or Disabled
8. Individuals in any SNAP-eligible Alien Group Lawfully Residing in the U.S. and Was 65 or Older on August 22, 1996
9. Individuals in any SNAP-eligible Alien Group Who Has a Military Connection
10. LPR who is an Amerasian
11.LPR who is an American Indian Born Abroad
12.LPR who is a Hmong or Laotian Tribal Member
NOT ELIGIBLE 1. Deportation Withheld
2. Refugee
3. Individuals Granted Asylum
4. Parolees
5. Certain Afghan Nationals Granted Parole Between July 31, 2021, and September 30, 2023
6. Certain Ukrainian Nationals Granted Parole Between February 24, 2022, and September 30, 2024
Aliens who transition to LPR status from these statuses are immediately eligible without a five-year wait 1.Victims of Severe Trafficking and Certain Family Members
2.Certain Afghan Nationals Granted Parole Between July 31, 2021, and September 30, 2023
3.Certain Ukrainian Nationals Granted Parole Between February 24, 2022, and September 30, 2024
4.Iraqi and Afghan Special Immigrants (SIV)
5.Deportation Withheld
6.Refugee
7.Individuals Granted Asylum
Aliens who transition to LPR status from these statuses must meet the five-year waiting period. 1.Conditional Entrants
2.LPR Pursuant to Section 249 of the INA (8 USC 1259)
3.Battered Aliens
4.Parolees
