SNAP: General Overview: Using Your SNAP Benefits at a Farmers’ Market

Rows of fresh vegetablesLocally grown produce arrives at the market more quickly and fresher than those transported long distances from other regions and countries.
What’s more, buying fresh, locally grown food is not only good for your family—it is also good for local farmers and our local economy. Customers can even meet the farmer who produced the food, and get tips and recipes on how best to prepare the products.

When going to a participating market, bring the Access Oklahoma EBT (Electronic Benefits Transfer) card to the table with the sign that says, “SNAP/EBT accepted here.” Swipe the card in the market’s portable EBT processing machine to receive a specific amount of tokens, in a requested amount, to spend at the stands at that market.

Any unused tokens may be kept for the next shopping experience at that market, or refunded back to the Access Oklahoma card.
