The steps to coding a Child Only TANF case are the same as any other TANF case with the exception of the Household and TANF Work tab. This coding is shown below.
On the “Household” tab in FACS the child’s “Relationship to Payee” must be coded as follows:
Payee’s relationship to child: | Coding for the child on the “Relationship to Payee” block (F9) must be: |

Aunt/Uncle | Niece/nephew |
Grandparent | Grandchild or great grandchild |
Sibling | Brother, sister, half-brother, half-sister, step-brother, step-sister |
Cousin | Cousin |
Note: Other child residing in household is never used for TANF.

On the “TANF Work” tab in FACS the “Payee/Spouse Grant Indicator”:

Parent payee receives SSI & SSP* | Parent not included in grant because of receipt of ABD |

Parent payee has a positive drug use screening* | Parent or caretaker relative not included in benefit due to positive illegal drug use screening |
Parent payee is alien not legally admitted for permanent residence | Parent or caretaker relative not included in benefit because they are an alien ineligible for benefits |
Parent payee is a parole/probation violator | Parole/probation violator |
Step-parent payee** | Step-parent who has the responsibility of parent not included in grant |
*RSDI income counts in its entirety unless client receives at least $1 SSI/SSP
**This is only used when natural parent in the home is receiving SSI/SSP
