TANF: TANF Incentive Achievement Bonus

TANF Incentive Achievement Bonus

The TANF Incentive Achievement Bonus is a benefit and process that will be made to our TANF recipients. The TANF Achievement Bonus will be a cash benefit available to TANF recipients who obtain their High School Diploma or Equivalent while on TANF.

Overview

  • Achievement Bonuses will be made to TANF recipients based on reaching benchmarks in the course of their education and training.
  • The purpose of these bonuses is to give TANF clients an incentive to better themselves over time.

One of the main goals of TANF is to help our TANF recipients become employable. We do this by assisting them in removing barriers to employment while helping them obtain education, employment skills and credentials needed to become successful in the workplace which ultimately leads to self-sufficiency.

Oklahoma DHS is utilizing cash based incentives to encourage participation of TANF recipients in need of their high school diploma/GED.

Intended Purpose

  • Incentive achievement bonuses are payable only if the TANF section is in issuing status.
  • Only a TANF payee or spouse who is added to the benefit will be eligible to receive this graduated incentive bonus based on the achievement of certain bookmarks.

When is a TANF recipient eligible for an Achievement Bonus?

It is important to remember that the Achievement bonuses are only payable if the high school diploma/Equivalent, while the TANF case is in issuing status. The bonus cannot be paid for a credential earned prior to the TANF case being opened or during a period of TANF closure.
