TANF: How to Process a TANF Incentive Achievement Bonus (F17B)

The F17B transaction creates a financial assistance warrant for TANF payee or spouse who is added to the benefit and eligible to receive one time incentive bonus based on achievement of certain benchmarks.

The first step in completing an F17B TANF achievement bonus transaction is to determine the level of eligibility for which the client has achieved through the course of his/her education or by verifying legitimate high school diploma.

Note: the client has to be receiving the on-going regular TANF benefit while attending high-school prior to his/her achievement.

Initiate the F17B transaction in IMS by entering: F17B (space) DHS case number (space) person number as shown here: “F17B H001001 002”

  • Enter your IMS USER ID in the User ID Field
  • Double check the address and the person information.
    • Note: Address cannot be changed here. If you have to change the address, it must be completed on FACS or IMS as a regular address change.
  • Enter an “X” next to the “NEW” column on the achievement level. The amount (AMT) of payment will be auto populated by the system.

The following Error Edits will show if error occurred while completing the F17B transaction:

  • CC737M01 – Section B is not in active status
  • CC737M03 – Person is ineligible for TANF Achievement Bonus
  • CC737M04 – Duplicate bonus is not allowed
  • CC737M05 – Missing USER ID
