Aged, Blind, Disabled (ABD): UpdatedAuto/Passive Renewal Process for SSI/SSP

Oklahoma is an SSI Criteria State, which aligns Medicaid eligibility requirements with the SSI program criteria for ABD individuals.  As an SSI Criteria state, Oklahoma is required to make a re-determination of eligibility without requiring information from the individual if able to do so based on reliable information contained in the individual’s case record or other more current information available to the agency per CFR 42 CFR §435.916(a) (b) (1) (2). This allows the utilization of data obtained from SSA regarding income and resources as a basis to be used for Medicaid SSI determinations for MAGI and Non-MAGI eligibility groups.

Systems will run the job the first week of each month to complete the reviews for the next month. This should prevent the individual from receiving an OKDHSLIVE renewal notice.  An automatically generated case note will be added in FACS for every case that is auto renewed.  It’s basically an invisible process for the individual.

If the review is for someone on the SSP and living with a spouse, each spouse will have their own case. The worker will need to review both cases to make sure each case is counting half the couple’s total countable income. You’ll need to do this even if one spouse is on SSI, so their case was auto renewed.

If somehow an SSI auto-renewal is missed, the worker should update the review date and make a case note.  The client will not be required to provide any documents or verifications.

For the SSP, you only need to make the change in the Finance tab.
