OK SNAP Works is Oklahoma’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Employment and Training Program. The objective of OK SNAP Works is to provide SNAP participants the opportunity to gain skills, training, or experience that will improve their employment prospects and reduce reliance on SNAP benefits. OK SNAP Works is a partnership between Oklahoma Department of Human Services and community partners.
Individuals who receive SNAP benefits, does not receive cash assistance (TANF), and are ready to work immediately, may be eligible to participate in free job training. The OK SNAP Works program is offered in the following counties: Oklahoma, Tulsa, Pittsburg, Muskogee, Okmulgee, and McIntosh.
The following services are offered free to SNAP participants involved with OK SNAP Works:
- Professional, vocational, and technical programs for learning new job skills;
- Adult Basic Education for improvement in reading, writing, the English language, and math;
- Writing effective resumes;
- Improving interview skills;
- Starting a career
Participants will also qualify for extra help while gaining new skills, like:
- Childcare
- Transportation assistance
- Books and supplies for your training courses
- Clothing for work, interviews, or training
The OK SNAP works program is voluntary program. No negative action will be taken against a client if they do not participate.
