Selling plasma or blood products is always considered earned income for the SNAP program. Verification of income can be provided in different forms such as a (one or two month pay printout) from the entity or a 1099 form
Use MICAL to calculate the plasma sales and determine the monthly amount.
Example 1: Andrew declares in the interview that he periodically gives blood at a local clinic and is provided income. He provided a printout for the last 30 days with the weekly amounts.
Enter the amounts in MICAL for the days to determine the monthly income amount to code in the earned income field.
Example 2: Julie provided a 1099 form for the regular selling of blood products over the last year. Income is considered representative as she continues to give blood frequently.
Take the annual amount noted on the 1099 form and annualize (divide by 12) to determine the monthly income amount to code in the earned income field.
Example 3: Josiah declares in the interview that he gives blood for income from time to time, but not every week. He provides receipts for the last 60 days.
Consider it as daily inconsistent – add amounts up and divide by number of months.
