Aged, Blind, Disabled (ABD): Resource – Direct Express Cards

Direct Express cards are pre-paid debit cards in which federal benefits are given to recipients electronically. As these cards can carry a balance, the resource amount must be addressed for medical applications.

We must verify for any account unless the individual is an SSI recipient. Clients are able go on the website and obtain a printout of the balance to provide verification to OKDHS.

If the resource limit(s) obtained via electronic data sources (AVS) are above the applicable resource limit, then the agency sends a notice to the applicant/beneficiary to give him/her the opportunity to provide documentation or explanation of the findings.  The agency documents verification of resource held in Direct Express Debit accounts at initial application and at renewal via customer balance access.

Clients can access the balance of a Direct Express account:

  • Customer service number on back of card for automated balance information.
  • Log-in to the Direct Express Website to check balance
