SNAP: SNAP Overview

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) is one of the most requested benefits in the county office. SNAP benefits provide low-income individuals and families the food they need in order to maintain good nutrition. The SNAP program, administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, is another resource used to supplement a household’s food supply in addition to the food that is purchased with a household’s income or received from other community food banks. In addition to the nutritional benefits the SNAP program provides to Oklahoma’s families, it also provides an economic boost for food retailers that are participants in the program.
