TANF: How to Reopen Cure TANF Work Sanction

The following are procedures following termination of cash assistance. Policy states that individuals who agree to participate within 60 calendar days of the date of the benefit termination may have their benefit reopened on reconsideration of the administrative action after the individual participates in an agreed upon appropriate activity for a specified length of time.

A new application is not required. The worker enters the new certification date.

On the Financial Assistance tab in Eligibility Notebook:

  • Section B – Fin Assistance – Type Action Taken: CERTIFIED (1)
  • Reason: TANF WORK SANCTION CURED (18T)
  • Certification Date: Enter new certification date
  • Effective Date: Re-enter certification date
  • Date of Last Redeterm: Re-enter certification date

Financial Assistance tab in Eligibility Notebook

On the Medical Gen. tab in Eligibility Notebook:

  • Section D – Medical – Type Action Taken: CERTIFIED OR ONLINE ENROLLMENT SENT TO OHCA
  • Reason: INCREASED NEED (14)
  • Certification/Disposition Date: Enter 1st of the month of certification.
  • Date of Last Redetermination: Re-enter certification date.

Medical Gen. tab in Eligibility Notebook

On the TANF Work tab in Eligibility Notebook:

  • TANF Work Status: Change TANF Work Status from Sanction
  • Assessment: Enter Certification Date
  • Classification: Enter appropriate choice

TANF Work tab in Interview Notebook

On the Household tab in Eligibility Notebook:

  • Add all eligible household members back to benefit effective the certification date.
