Flex Funds for TANF Work
The intent of Flexible funds is to provide a participant with the necessary support services needed to accomplish his/her employment goals. In order for a TANF Work participant to be eligible for Flexible Funds the case must be certified and the Required Registrant must be ready to participate in an approved component for the minimum number of hours, already be participating in a TANF Work component have a guaranteed offer of employment of be employed.
Flexible Funds are not an entitlement and are not guaranteed. Designated county staff or the Career Development Specialist has the final authority to determine authorizations and amounts. Flex funds cannot be used for fines or fees associated with them. This includes traffic fines or any cost related to criminal offenses. Flex Funds cannot be authorized as a reimbursement of expenses already paid by or for the participant or as ongoing maintenance.
Payments cannot be authorized to exceed $750 without the approval of the Regional Director. Dental Services may be approved up to $2500 without Regional Director Approval. Payments are allowed only after services are rendered.

Supportive Service Funds for Child Only Cases
Supportive Service Funds are an effort to promote family stability and assist in the prevention of Child Welfare involvement. These funds can be used for cases where the natural or adoptive parent(s) DO NOT reside in the home and a caretaker relative has assumed responsibility for rearing the child(ren). Before vouchers are authorized all other resources should be explored. Payments are allowed only after services are rendered. Supportive Service funds are not used for fines or court cost related to a criminal offense.
