Railroad Retirement claim numbers are similar to Social Security claim numbers, however Railroad Retirement numbers have prefixes rather than suffixes. A Railroad Retirement number consists of 6 or 9 digits immediately after the prefix. There are no spaces or hyphens between the prefix and the number.

MA | Spouse or railroad employee or annuitant |
MH | Spouse or railroad pensioner |
WCA | Widow of annuitant with a child in her care |
WCD | Child of railroad employee or widow of employee with a child in her care |
CA | Disabled adult child of railroad annuitant |
WD | Widow or widower of a railroad employee |
WA | Widow or widower of a railroad annuitant |
WH | Widow or widower of a railroad pensioner |
WCH | Widow of pensioner with a child in her care |
PD | Parent of railroad employee |
PA | Parent of railroad annuitant |
PH | Parent of railroad pensioner |
JA | Survivor joint annuitant. An annuitant who has taken a reduced amount to guarantee payments to a surviving spouse. |
