Subsidized employment – when a public or private sector employer receives a subsidy from TANF or other public funds to offset some or all of the wages and costs of employing a TANF recipient. Examples of subsidized employment include the Subsidized Employment Program (SEP), on-the-job training (OJT), and Supported Transitional Employment Program (STEP).
