The net income standard is used to determine eligibility when the SNAP household has all and/or some members who are considered elderly (60 years of age or older) and/or disabled by SSA standards or any other categories listed in policy.
Workers should utilize the FSCALC screen in IMS to determine if the net income for the SNAP household will allow a food benefit to issue.
Remember: Elderly/disabled households are not held to the gross income standard.
It is imperative that the worker discuss medical deductions with the client, and document that information in case notes.
