The following are examples of TANF Income Exclusions:
- Client receives SSI/SSP and is payee on a child only TANF case. Client reports she has gone to work. What income is considered on the TANF benefits?
- None. No income of an SSI/SSP recipient is considered on the TANF benefit. 340:10-3-40(15).
- Child support is received by a TANF payee for a child on SSI/SSP. What income is considered on the TANF benefits?
- None. Any income of an adult or child(ren) in the family group living in the home and receiving SSI is not considered in determining the TANF benefit. 340:10-3-40(15).
- A child whose needs are included in the TANF benefit is working part time after school. What income of this child is considered on the TANF benefits?
- None if the child is a full time student. (Full time student status is determined by the school.) Earnings of a child in the TANF benefit who is a full-time student are disregarded. 340:10-3-40(17).
- An 18-year-old child has been removed from the TANF benefit as he will not graduate prior to turning 19. Child support has been collected for this child and is now being sent to the TANF payee since the child is no longer included in the TANF benefit. What income of this child is considered on the TANF benefit?
- None. Money received and used for the care of a household member who is not included in the TANF benefit is not considered as income. 340:10-3-26(2).
Exception: This policy is not applicable for a step-parent or person acting in the role of a spouse. - A child included in the TANF benefit is participating in the summer youth program, funded by Workforce Investment ACT (WIA) and is receiving income for the participation. What income of this child is considered on the TANF benefit?
- None. Unearned income received by a child in a TANF benefit, such as needs based payments, cash assistance compensation in lieu of wages or allowances from a program funded by WIA, including Job Corps income and WIA earned income received as wages is disregarded. 340:10-3-40(10).
- A TANF payee is receiving payments for participating in the AmeriCorps*Vista program. What income is considered on the TANF benefit?
- None. Payments to volunteers under the National And Community Service ACT of 1993 (NCSTA) are disregarded. 340:10-3-40 (12).
