SNAP eligibility must be determined within 30 days of the application date. A final action (approval or denial) must be completed no later than the 30th day.
An interview must be completed within the same 30-day timeframe. When an application is received, an OnDemand Interview Notice is sent to the household. If an interview is not completed by the notice due date, follow the FDeny 59 process. Interviews CANNOT be completed after the 30th day. At that point, the application is no longer valid, and the household must submit a new application (paper/signature, online/proxy) to continue the process. If the FDeny process is not used, the application must be manually denied on the 30th day.

When an Interview is Completed but Verification is Needed
When the interview has been completed by the 30th day but verification is still needed, follow the ADM-92 and FDeny 45 processes. If verification is not received by the 30th day, the application must be denied. Applications placed in FDeny 45 status will be automatically denied by the system.
Key Points to Remember:
- If the ADM-92 is due after the 30th day (issued less than 10 days before the application expires), the case CANNOT be placed in FDeny 45 status.
- In this situation, if required verifications are not received by the ADM-92 due date, the application must be manually denied.
When Verification is Received After the 30th day
When the required verification is received after the 30th day but before the 60th day (sometimes called the second 30 days), a new application is not required. The date the verification is received becomes the new application date, and the household does not need to reapply.
If verification is received after the 60th day, the household must submit a new application, regardless of prior steps.

- The application is no longer valid after 60 days.
Expedited SNAP Applications
While the standard processing time is 30 days, some households qualify for expedited services based on the screening completed at application submission. Expedited applications must be processed within 7 days of the application date.
Due to this shortened timeframe, households are not given the standard 10 days to provide verification. In these cases, the S/EO process may be used to approve the SNAP benefits based on the available application information, with required verification postponed until after the approval with a limited certification period.
Key Points to Remember:
- Identification is the only verification that cannot be postponed and is required to process the application.
- For electronic applications, the expedited screening is automated, and a case note is entered with the screening result.
