SNAP: Closure Codes

Benefit Reporter Households Closure Codes

If the Mid-Certification Renewal (MCR) is not submitted or is incomplete, the section will close using code ‘36S’ as the reason for SNAP and medical. The closure code for childcare is ‘36.’

SNAP Only: In non-report months, if a change occurs and is reported the only valid closure codes are:

23B Needs transferred to SSP – blind category
23C Needs transferred to TANF category
23D Needs transferred to SSP – disabled category
42 Moved to another state
44G Failed or refused to cooperate with OIG investigation
44Q Client refused to cooperate with a federal FS quality control
45 Failed or refused to provide necessary verification within time allowance.
46A Client request because of employment
46B Client request because of marriage
46C Client request for unspecified reason
48 Living in an institution
60 Separate household requirements not met
61 Household member committed fraud
64 Household elected to have commodities
80 ABAWD without required work history (This code is only used with ABAWD’s whose work hours drop below 20 hours per week averaged to 80 hours per month and he/she is the only person receiving benefits.)
81 Fleeing Felon
82 Probation or Parole Violator

A semi-annual reporter case in most cases cannot be closed during a non-report month for any reasons other than those listed above. Refer to Quest section G1DX for any exceptions in which a request for verification is required and the client does not provide verification.
