Creating a D or B case for a child using the ps1b transaction in IMS

  1. In IMS, type ps1b
  2. Press Enter
  3. Tab to Case Number field and enter D or B
    • Note: Determined by categorical relationship. D = Disabled Case, B = Blind Case.
  4. Tab to Section Field and enter B
  5. Enter App Date in MM/DD/YY format
  6. Enter Supervisor
  7. Enter Worker Number
  8. Enter County Number
  9. Enter Office code
  10. UE PT: Leave Blank
  11. RN CD: Enter Medical Reason Code. In this example, we used code D
  12. Tab to the Street field and enter all address information. Do not include any special characters such as an astericks or pound sign when entering information. Enter any apartment number or additional information in the extra address field.
  13. Enter information for the parent or guardian (authorized representative). Use information listed below to code the following sections.

    Member Status Codes

    P – Applicant, recipient payee, or head of household.

    Member Benefits

    Household members included in the financial assistance household should be coded depending on the categorical relationship of the individual the medical application is for.

    Disabled: D and M

    Blind: B and M

    Race

    Enter a Y for all that apply. You must choose one or more races to accompany Hispanic ethnicity.

    Birth Date

    Enter the birth date in MM/DD/YYYY format

  14. Enter information for child recipient related to ABD. Use information listed below to code the following sections.

    Member Status Codes

    X – Child recipient in household

    Member Benefits

    Depending on the categorical relationship of the child:

    Disabled: D and M

    Blind: B and M

    Enter Sex, Race, Birth Date, and Social Security Number.

  15. Press Enter*. If no previous case list appears, enter X in the indicator field and press enter again to create case number.
  16. If a list of other cases associated with the applicant appears, determine if one can be used for the medical and financial assistance benefit. If one cannot be found, press the page up key until you return to the ps1b screen. Enter X in the indicator field and press enter again to create case number.

Please Note: If information is entered incorrectly, question marks will appear on the ps1b screen to indicate an error entry has occurred. Make the necessary correction(s) and then press enter.
