SNAP: UpdatedWork Registration: Overview

What is Work Registration?

As a condition of eligibility for SNAP, each household member that is not exempt must comply with SNAP work requirements. In order to show compliance with the work requirements, the worker must code the household member on the ABAWD tab in FACS as R, in the Food Benefit Work Status (F170) block and enter date in the Food Benefit Work Status Date (F171) block.

Ways to comply with Work Registration:

  • Agree to ‘Register for Work’
  • Accept a ‘bona fide’ offer of suitable employment
  • Do not voluntarily and without good cause quit a job of 30 hours or more per week or reduce the work hours to less than 30 hours per week.
  • Provide DHS with sufficient information regarding employment status and availability for work.
