When adding a child to child care in the middle of an eligibility period, the earliest date the child may be added is the date of request.
Income verification is not required, however, if case notes indicate a loss of need has occurred, additional child cannot be approved. 340:40-9-2 Case Changes

When a parent/caretaker requests care for a child who was not previously included in the child care household (neither K/A, K/O or K/N), the eligibility period starts over.
When child care is requested for a child who was not previously living in the home, the worker opens the authorization for that child and changes E.7 (last redetermination date) to the 1st of the following month.
This ensures a full 12 months of eligibility for that new child.
For example:
Mom has an open child care case for her 5-year-old daughter. On 02/17/25 mom requests child care for her 3 year-old son who previously lived with his father in a different state. The child now lives with mom and has not been included in the child care household. Mom is meeting a need factor and all other eligibility requirements.
Add the child care authorization for the 3-year-old beginning 02/17/25.
Make a change to the E-section (Child Care Tab) of the case and update E.7 (last redetermination date) = 03/01/25.
