Keep these key ideas in mind as you use IMS.
PY Screen:
In IMS type py (space) social security number of each household member that is provided on the application.
Use the PY screen for each household member. Look at cases to retrieve information regarding an individual or household’s public assistance.
Finding People
Use the FIND command to locate individuals and cases. In IMS, type find and press the enter key to access the find transaction. Complete all information that you have available and then press the enter key to obtain the search results.
Use the XMAIL command to find any cases that are associated with the address on an application. In IMS, type xmail; then press the enter key. Next, enter address information in the appropriate fields and press the enter key to locate any other cases.
Creating Cases
Use the ps1b transaction to create cases numbers for new benefits or services applications. In IMS, type ps1b and press the enter key.
Income Verification
Use the sdx screen to verify receipt of supplemental security income (SSI). In IMS, type SDX (space) social security number and press the enter key.
Use the Bendex screen to verify receipt of retirement, survivor, and disability insurance (RSDI). In IMS, type BEN (space) social security claim number and press the enter key.
Use the ki1 screen to confirm receipt of child support. In IMS, type KI1 (space) child support case number and press the enter key.
Use the OWL screen to check employment history or verify receipt of unemployment insurance. In IMS, type OWL (space) social security number and press the enter key.
Clearing Edit Errors
Use IMS to obtain extended edit text that will assist you in clearing edits in FACS. In IMS, type m (Space) edit error number to obtain additional information. For example, m psefx163.
