1. The Initial Step: Check ABD Eligibility
Before a family can be considered for TEFRA, you must first process a standard medical application.
- Process the Application: Complete the initial application (online, phone, or in person).
- If Ineligible: If the child does not qualify for regular ABD Medical, deny the application in FACS using the appropriate reason code.
- The Referral: Once denied for ABD, you can then refer the family to the TEFRA process.
2. How the Family Applies for TEFRA
TEFRA is not processed like a standard case. The family must complete a specific TEFRA Financial Application and Voter Registration Form.
- How to get a packet: Advise the family to request a TEFRA packet by:
- Email: tefrafax@okhca.org
- Phone: 405-522-7752
- What’s inside the packet:
- Parent’s Guide to TEFRA and a Checklist.
- Tips for the Physician’s Detailed Medical Statement.
- Information from the Oklahoma Health Care Authority (OHCA).
- Identity Affidavit (08MA006E).
3. Submitting the Application
The family should submit their completed financial application along with any supporting medical documentation directly to OHCA.
Submission Methods:
- Email: tefrafax@okhca.org
- Fax: 405-530-3312
- Mail: OHCA-TEFRA 4345 N. Lincoln Blvd. Oklahoma City, OK 73105
